This simple strap is a safe, unobtrusive way to identify horses in a herd or, with O-rings slipped onto the collar, provides an alternative to cross tying using a halter- leaving the face free for grooming or bridling.
Many of the top Thoroughbred farms use leather horse collars to identify broodmares with an added brass name plate or a simple pet ID tag hanging from the buckle. ID collars are particularly useful at large farms where handlers may not recognize each horse by sight- an identification collar helps prevent potentially dangerous mix ups!
Leather horse collars are much safer for turnout than halters because the collar sits on a less sensitive part of the horse's body and an area less likely to be caught on objects. In an emergency, this Amish made strap will break away. Havana brown only.
